The 8th and final generation of the Buick Le Sabre has gained a reputation of being one of the best cars ever made by any American manufacturer.

Manufactured between 2000 and 2005, the LeSabre is often referred to as the American Toyota Camry. Powered by Buick's virtually unbreakable Series II 3.8-liter V6, many of these cars have gone several hundred thousand miles without any major issues.

This particular Buick was originally owned by a fellow airplane pilot who drove it until he was no longer able to. After the car had hiberated in the garage for a year-and-a-half, the owner's grandson went through the car with a fine comb. I purchased the car from him back in 2023 and have used it as my touring car. I am now in the process of retiring abroad and am selling most of my earthly possessions, among them this fine motorcar.

VIN *1G4HP54K624185489* was manufactured in January of 2002. It has lived in sunny Southern California ever since, rarely seen a drop of rain in the past 23 years. As this is the upscale Custom model, it comes with a genuine leather interior and all the bells and whistles you hope to find in an American luxury car. Everything works as it should, and there are zero issues to report.

The car comes with all factory books in the original black leather pouch, as well as a folder with receipts, including the original purchase invoice. Maintenance items since 2022 include:

  • 4 new Pirelli tires
  • 2 new self-leveling rear shocks
  • new GM O2 sensors
  • new fuel pressure regulator
  • new spark plugs and spark plug wires
  • new Mass Airflow Sensor

Also included are 2 factory keys with two factory remote controls.

The car comes with a clean California Certificate of Title in my name and current registration, valid 'til January of 2026. If the car sells in California I will also provide a new Smog Certificate.

I bought the car with exactly 55,555 miles on the clock. Mileage now is 68,816.

One of the reasons why the LeSabre has gained such a great reputation is GM's Series II 3800-V6 engine, putting out 205 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque.

The engine runs on Mobil 1 synthetic, changed every 3K miles, and there are zero issues to report. It's smooth as silk, and the 4-speed automatic transmission shifts imperceptibly.

There are no oil leaks anywhere.

This Buick is as original as it gets. It has never been in a fender bender and carries all of its original panels.

All of the paint appears to be factory original. There are no flaws in the finish. Only flaw is a tiny crack on the right tailight lense.

Let's now check out the interior.

Buick's interior is clad in gray leather which, combined with the wood veneer, provides an inviting ambiente. What really creates a feeling of extra space is the lack of a center console. This Buick is still a genuine 6-seater, and you can stretch your legs sideways on long road trips.

As so often, the glued-on headliner material is prone to sag after 2 decades, and that was the case here as well. I had it replaced in September of 2024.

The dash is free of cracks or any other imperfections. I call it perfect.
Gray factory carpeting has been protected by gray floor mats. They are not shown here but are included in the sale.

The LeSabre has an information center, giving feedback about oil health, charging system, among other things. It also has sentinal lights, so it turns on and off the lights depending on the ambient light outside.
I had a few bulbs inside the steering wheel controls replaced (still have a few extras), and everything works perfectly on this car.

Leather hides are in great condition after 23 years. They have been treated with hide food throughout the years and should last a lifetime. Note: often the fold-out cup-holder is broken on these cars, but not on this car. Adjustable lumbar support works great!

Rear hides look like new.

Let's check out the trunk now.

Buick's trunk is rather large, and comes with a factory dividing net that can be attached at several anchor points. Not a single stain on the gray factory felt carpeting!

Unused spare and tools rest in a separate petition below the trunk floor. Everything is like new here.

The condition of the all original undercarriage speaks volumes here. Keep in mind, this car is already 23 years old!

Flawless front facia, free of scrapes and road rash.

Pirelli P4 tires in the stock size 225/60-16 were replaced in December of 2022. Their manufacturing date code is 3522, so the 35th week of 2022. They had now about 14K miles of use.

I'm now 67-1/2 years old and have been a "car guy" most of my adult life. I've owned multiple Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar, Bentley, and Rolls Royce cars, and have had my share of headaches and maintenance nightmares. The older I got, the more I appreciated a solid-as-a-rock car that doesn't have blinking computer screens and needs to be towed to the dealer to replace one of the multiple electric gremlins.

I could have imagined this to be my final car, but since we're retiring abroad, it wasn't in the stars. I would sell this car to a family member and my best friend, and I'm genuinely sad that I have to part with it.

If you are in the market for a car to drive forever instead of buying a rolling computer and, God forbid, have to finance it, look no further than this LeSabre.
Opportunty calls, are you ready to answer?
