It's as healthy as it is pretty, in its factory correct livery of brillant orange with a groovy green-yellow-and-orange plaid interior.

Sold new on April 14, 1977 in Oakland, Calif., this VW is a one-owner vehicle that comes with its old-style, small California "pink slip" (title) as well as its original owner's manual/service book.

The odometer shows 79,684 miles.

This T2 camper is as rust free as they come. It has always been orange and has only been painted once, quite a few years ago. However, the finish still presents very well, with no bubbles, nor any major scratches or dents in evidence. The bumpers show some wear, of course. A fresh set of the rubber overriders is still on backorder but will be included with the camper.
All lenses and all major weatherstripping, such as seals for the doors and rear hatch and engine cover, have recently been replaced.

Dash looks fabulous and well-preserved. We assume this camper to have always been garaged.

Most of the upholstery has been refinished with the original VW plaid material sourced from Germany. It looks spectacular. Door panels have also been replaced - not a cheap endeavor!

The inviting Westfalia - home away from home!

Orange pop-top canvas is new.

Dreamland for two . . .

Rear bench folds flat to create another bed for two.

Interior is in fine condition throughout, including the "wood" laminate, curtains and other Westy-specific items.

Beige fabric bag seems to contain the hammock-like "cot," however, we have not assembled or tested it yet.

Engine bay looks very clean. The fuel-injected boxer motor runs like a top, does not smoke or leak.

Driving one of these old VW Busses is a special treat. The lightness, great visibility and ease of handling have to be experienced.

Suspension, brakes, transmission, lights, wipers and horn all work as they should. Just the aftermarket radio refuses to cooperate. Perhaps it's time to source an old Blaupunkt 2-band model?

Driving this vintage Westy, it's all about the journey, not the destination!
