California Survivor:

1975 Porsche 911S 2.7 Coupe!

Please wait a few moments while our high-resolution photos load.

Built in November of 1974, this 1975 Porsche 911S Coupe has resided in sunny San Diego its entire life.

A genuine 2-owner "S" model, this Porsche still wears its original 6-digit California blue and yellow license plate with pride. The second owner was a teacher who obtained the car in 1994, reportedly had the engine rebuilt in 2004, then parked it in 2008 under a tarp for reasons unknown to us.

After we awoke the car from hibernation and revived it, we replace the return oil line from the oil cooler, removed and reinstalled the engine to repair a couple of oil leaks, installed a new firewall mat, and finally a set of new (genuine) leather seat covers.

This Porsche is smog exempt in the Golden State, yet it still has its original smog pump installed, which we take as a sign of extreme originality.

Trunk still shows its original gray felt carpeting.

Stripped of its clothes, we find nothing but healthy factory sheet metal. Spare is date-coded and the original. No sign of rust or accident damage anywhere.

Undercarriage is plain fantastic, close to reference condition, with nothing but factory finishes throughout.

Body is straight as an arrow. Genuine 15 x 6-inch Fuchs wheels have been refurbished.

Paint is an older repaint in the original color, dull, with some clear coat peeling on the right quarter panel. Most people would suggest a repaint along the line; we would enjoy it as is.

Original headliner and sun visors; both dome lights work.

Nice cockpit with original steering wheel. Note that this is a factory non-sunroof car with air conditioning.

All the gauges work as they should, with the sole exception of the clock which shows the correct time only twice a day. Odometer shows 20,212 miles.

Orinal carpeting begins to show its age, new leather seat covers ($1,600).

Original rear seats in good condition.

Very early, six digit California blue-and-yellow license plate.

Correct 2.7-liter engine.
Note original labels, original smog pump, and original air conditioning compressor!

Engine is a bit difficult to start when cold, but starts easily once warmed up, then idles nicely.

We've taken the car on a couple of short trips, one of them on the freeway.

The car still needs some final sorting. It runs fine, but not super smooth. It may need a cold start sensor, and perhaps the fuel injectors cleaned.

We are offering the car "as is" at a discount, as we have too many projects already and can't restore all of them.

This Porsche has a lot of good things going for it, being a genuine California 2-owner car, with low mileage, virtually rust free with a superb undercarriage to boost.
