There's no better way to celebrate than with your friends and neighbors. You just have to find a reason: since we just completed the move to Californiaclassix' permanent home in beautiful downtown Ventura, we decided to throw a party.
Saturday, April 26th, 2008, was a very warm day here in Southern California, which didn't keep the Gary Mendoza Band from laying down groovy Blues and Boogie tracks all afternoon. Thanks, Gary, "You Da Man!"
No matter whether 2 or 82 years old, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves--until the local fuzz showed up. Turns out they heard the music a couple of blocks away and just wanted to check up on things.
Our bud Lorenzo brought out his big mobile grill and served up barbequed tri tip, ribs, chicken, Polish sausages, Gardenburgers and corn on the cob all day long. Yummy!
Relaxing in the shade or eyeing the food?
Jeffrey Corey, our all-around good guy and master electrician, possesses many talents. Here, he expertly mixes the sound. Thanks, Jeff, for bringing your equipment!
Our garage, ready for all the visitors.
Detail master Chris proudly showing off our fabulous 1965 Rambler Ambassador Convertible.
The Ghosts of the Pep Boys watch over the diners.
Tracie with Chloe, the friendly Chi-hua-hua.
Travis and girlfriend Shauntee, admiring the winged 1970 CanAm racer.
Barbara Wolf, trying on Bill's 1950 Buick Super Riviera Hardtop daily driver for size.
Berj Kesenci and family checking out our restored 1967 Karmann Ghia Bonneville Land Speed Racing car. Formerly The World's Fastest Volkswagen, it still holds 11 records on Salt Flats and Dry Lakes!
Havin' a good time!
Gino's 5-window Coupe, from Santa Barbara. Last painted in 1959.
Rat Fink girlfriends.
ArDun-powered racers, lined up for the mini-Cacklefest. Yup, they sounded strong, to the delight of everyone present.
Fuel injected ArDun engine with Harman-Collins mag inside a '27 Ford Model "T." The car was painted by Von Dutch, back in '55. Very esoteric, indeed.
Remember those driving simulators our schools had for Drivers' Ed, back in the 1960s? Well, we have one of those, and it was a big hit among the young ones!
A few people probably had a slight hangover the next day . . . but "WHMF." ("Who has more fun?") |
