Back in the early 1970s, when CAN AM dominated the racing circuits, brothers Brad and Tim LoVette founded Manta Cars, located in sunny Southern California.

Their initial creation was the Manta Mirage, a very low, very wide supercar, sporting a rather unusual rear. Shortly after Brad died in a racing accident, but Tim pressed on and released the company's second offering, the Montage-T, intended to be a close replica of the McLaren M6GT, one of the most successful CAN AM race cars in history.

The example shown here is one of these Montage-T cars, the T standing for Tube frame.

The car carries an assigned California VIN, # *CA392892*, which any DMV can look up in the database, and it's sold on a Bill of Sale.

And it's a good one, incorporating lower aluminum panels like the monocoque-based McLarens. It also has hide-away headlights, arguably the most elegant solution. And then there's the power train . . .

Montage-T's space frame is a piece of art. A combination of square and round tubing, as solid and safe as any purpose built race car frame.

This one has a fully finished chassis, with Wilwood brakes all around.

The fiberglass body features lower, riveted aluminum panels, reminiscent of the McLaren's monocoque.

Steering is complete, shift linkage is included. Both GT-40 style seats are brand new.

This Montage features genuine Centerline wheels with brand new Hoosier tires -- the stickers still on the threads.

All body parts are aligned already.

Lamborghini-style sizzor doors allow for easy entry and exit. Engine compartment is easily accessible as well.

Currently installed is a Chevrolet Small Block of unknown specifications.

Spaghetti exhaust with custom collectors is a piece of art!

Transaxle is a genuine Porsche Type 915 unit. These sell between $3,500 and $15,000.

Suspension features adjustable coil overs. Brakes are genuine Wilwood.

Also included is an aluminum bulkhead panel that separates the cockpit from the engine compartment. It is shown in the parts photo below.

Parts included: radiator, bulkhead panel, clutch, shift linkage, starter motor.

A McLaren M6GT is one of the most mesmerizing cars ever made. A few years back, one sold for $329,000.

This Manta Montage captures the beautiful lines of the McLaren like no other car.

All the hard work has been done. What's needed is finishing work, wiring, and sorting.

If you invest some time and elbow grease, you'll end up with a car that will stop traffic.

Opportunity calls; are you ready to answer?

Addendum:
We sold this Manta Montage in November of 2021 to an enthusiast in Anchorage, Alaska.
